AshantiGold coach Charles Akunnor has claimed that he has no hand in the signing of Saddick Adams.

The 28-year-old was one of two players placed on transfer by Asante Kotoko for non-performance.

The powerful hitman requested for his contract to be terminated but the club's management rejected his request.

On Friday, the Reds confirmed on their Twitter handle that they have transferred the player to regional rivals AshantiGold.

However, AshantiGold has denied any knowledge of the deal and stated categorically that he only requested for defender Eric Donkor - who himself was deemed surplus to requirements by the Kumasi-based side.

"Well up to now I’m not aware," Akunnor disclosed to Nhyira FM.

"I have read it in the papers about Saddick Adams, but I know of Donkor whom I believe will be part of the team on Wednesday, so I'll say we are working hard towards the game against Dreams FC."

"You know like I told you, we have discussed about players who are coming with Frederick Acheampong, who is the CEO. However, I have read about some issues which were not been part of our discussions but it's in the public domain, if I’m being honest about it. I don’t know much about it but I know of Eric because we discussed it thoroughly so I'm aware of that."

This will be Adams' second stint with the Miners after graduating from their academy in 2007.

He joined the Kumasi-based side last season and helped them clinch the MTN FA Cup after bagging a hat-trick in their 3-1 win over sworn adversaries Hearts of Oak in the final at the Tamale Stadium.
