Black Satellites Captain Issahaku Konda harbors dreams of winning the FIFA Under-20 World Cup with Ghana and wants to replicate the feat of he Dede Ayew led side in 2009.

The Black Satellites began their African Youth Championship qualifiers with a 0-0 draw in Algiers, despite creating several chances to win the game.

According to the Wa All Stars defender and Captain of the side, the game against Algeria was tough but they were prepared for the young Desert Warriors.

"It was a tough game," he said after the game. "Playing against Algeria away, who have scored five goals in two games, we knew they were going to be tough opponents at home with the support and home advantage. We came into the game with the philosophy that until we score, we won't allow them to score. That is what we did right to get the draw even though we missed a lot of chances. We practiced a lot on defending," he added.

The Black Satellites will have to beat Algeria in Ghana to qualify for the final rounds of qualifiers, where they face the winner of the game between Benin and Gambia.

Meanwhile, Issahaku Konda who is in the team for the second time after the Black Satellites failed to qualify in 2016, says he has dreams of winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup with Ghana.

"First of all, when I had the call up to come to the national U-20 team, I had dreams that we could win the World Cup and replicated what the Dede Ayew team did in 2009 and fortunately I am also the captain and it has been my prayers and that of the players to repeat what the Ayew's side did in 2009 in 2019," he said.
