2017/18 GHPL Week II Best XI: Felix Annan saves Kotoko again

Felix Annan once again lived up to the task, guiding Asante Kotoko to register their first win of the season over Inter Allies at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium while evergreen Amos Addai steered AshGold to an astonishing 3-1 win over Hearts in Cape Coast.

C.K. Akonnor emerged the coach of the week for supervising the humiliation of Hearts in the hands of a ruthless AshGold side.

1. Felix Annan (GK) - Kotoko: The Asante Kotoko goalie lived up to the hype once again by guiding his side to pick all three points against Kenichi's Inter Allies in Kumasi. Annan saved about 4 top scoring opportunities. He stole the show, denying Vitorien Adebayor the chance to score against Kotoko despite several attempts.

2. Isahaku Zakaria - Wa All Stars: Despite his side's inability to register a win over Ebusua Dwarfs in Wa, Zakaria' output was remarkable. He made several incursions into the opponents half with brilliant crosses. His apt technique in defending ensured Wa All Stars did not miss former skipper Hafiz Adams. Zakaria emerged player of the match for his superb show.

3. Justice Anane - Aduana Stars: Aduana Stars' overall output against Elmina Sharks was not impressive but Anane was a standout player from the side. He was spot on with his tackles and joined attack when necessary with some brilliant shots on target. Despite being young, he's filling the void created by Daniel Darkwah with excellence.

4. Osei Agyemang - AshGold: If there was one player who ensured AshGold recorded the shocking 3-1 win over Hearts, it's Osei Agyemang. The former Kotoko defender ensured there was an unbreakable barrier in front of George Owu for Hearts to get the balls into the net. Despite several threats by Joseph Esso, Osei Agyemang responded beautifully with jaw-dropping clearances. He emerged the man of the match.

5. Sowah Seth - Bechem United: For many at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Sowah was the man of the match. He was apt with his clearances, superb with his aerial challenges and was dangerous any time Bechem United had set pieces. He scored the opener for Bechem United with a supersonic header from a corner.

6. Ebo Mends - Elmina Sharks: He was excellent in midfield for Elmina Sharks. Very defensive with his play and gave accurate long passes to his attackers. He emerged the man of the man in an obvious manner.

7. Amos Addai - AshGold: Amos proved why Hearts needn't have spent about GHC 80K on Evans Quao. He, on two occasions, turned Quao inside out to expose his weaknesses. Quao was in an apologetic posture when Amos took him on the far right, danced around him and slotted home a nice curler to send C.K. Akonnor into a wild celebration.

8. Zakaria Mumuni - Aduana Stars: Zakaria was another enterprising addition for Aduana Stars as they shared the spoils with Elmina Sharks. Despite the side's poor show, he was another outstanding player in the team. He got two shots on target and was a torn in the flesh of the Sharks midfield.

9. William Opoku - Karela FC: In the battle of the newcomers, all Karela needed was William Opoku. But for him, Techiman Eleven Wonders would have trekked back to Techiman with all three points. With his exciting performance, he fetched the equaliser for Karela and kept on with the heat to increase the tally till the final whistle.

10. Joseph Esso - Hearts: While suffering the embarrassing defeat in the hands of AshGold, Joseph Esso displayed a standout performance for the Phobians. He grabbed a consolation for the home side and was their most exciting player. He lasted the entire duration of the game.

11. Vitorien Adebayor - Inter Allies: The new name on the lips of football fans is Adebayor and he was at it again. But for the heroics of Felix Annan, the Nigerien could have won the day for the visitors.
