Coach Rasmussen satisfied with WAFA's performance in GPL opener

West Africa Football Academy Coach Klavs Rasmussen says he is satisfied with the performance of his new-look team as they held Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League opener.

The Academy boy, who lost most of their players in the transfer window did not look a weakened side as former Black Starlets winger Aminu Mohammed shot them into the lead on three minutes with a brilliant freekick.

However, experienced forward Yakubu Mohammed pulled parity for Kotoko after deflecting a Jordan Opoku strike into the net.

Rasmussen, who lost the Captain Gideon Waja to Toronto FC, Emmanuel Boateng and Caleb Amankwa to champions Aduana stars says he is happy with the performance of his boys.

"We scored one and they scored one, that's how it is," he said after the game. "When we play at home we go for all three points, it's a new season and it's a new team so they played a very good game today and I'm satisfied with their performance," he added.

The Danish tactician was however happy with the delay in the start of the premier league insisting it afforded him he time to build a new team.

"It's a new team so it's good that we can train with a lot of times and I'm thankful the league was delayed so we had more training and we can improve on a lot of things but i don't think we were lacking."
