Columbus Crew manager explains Lalas Abuabakar’s injury scare

Coach of MLS side Columbus Crew Gregg Berhalter has given the injury updates on defender Lalas Abubakar, who was substituted in the final minute of the game against Montreal Impact.

The Ghanaian defender fell unconscious, before making way for Ricardo Clark in the 96th minute of their 3-2 win over Montreal Impact.

Lalas Abubakar, won a penalty in the 12th minute which was concerted by Fedrico Higuain in a thrilling contest that saw Ghanaian born American Gyasi Zardes score a brace for the yellow and Blacks.

Meanwhile, after a man of the match performance from Abubakar in the opener last week, the player provided Crew with some scary moment when he fell unconscious in the win against Montreal Impact.

“We’re hearing its dehydration. It was scary at the time,” Coach Berhalter said after the game. “

We had no idea what happened. The guy is on the ground and you think it could be something more serious, but we are hearing it’s dehydration. We’re going to continue to evaluate him and make sure he’s hydrated and gets the proper rest.”

Lalas Abubakar’s compatriots Harrison Afful and Jonathan Mensah were all in action and played full throttle.
