The Director of Business at Centa 14 Sports and Entertainment agency, Kweku Baah has confirmed that the under-13 team of Lizzy Sports Academy will represent Ghana in the 2nd edition of the Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup competition.

The Dubai Intercontinental Football Cup is an annual football competition held for talented youngsters to exhibit their talents and Lizzy sports complex will be competing on behalf of Ghana following their victory in the Ghana edition which was under the watch of Real Madrid legend Michel Salgado.

The Franchise holders of the competition in Ghana, Centa14 Sports and Entertainment will be travelling with the Lizzy team on the 20th of February to participate in the tournament which is scheduled for February 22to 24.

The 20-team competition will see Lizzy Sports Academy come up against top teams like Liverpool, Real Madrid and defending champions, Celta Vigo

Kweku Baah disclosed in an interview that the purpose of the competition is to give young footballers the opportunity to exhibit their talents to the world and realise their dream of joining some of the best clubs in the world.

He expressed optimism that Ghana’s reps will do well in the tournament and cement their place as one of the best academies in the world.

“The tournament is Dubai Challenge Cup, played annually and this is the second edition and we (Centa 14 Sports and Entertainment) happen be the franchise holders in Ghana. We hosted an 8-team tournament in Ghana last year and Lizzy Sports academy emerged winners so on the 22nd of this month, they are going to represent Ghana in the tournament. The competition aims at giving young footballers the platform to sell their craft so we optimistic the team we are presenting will do well”.

Initially Salgado was skeptical about the quality of team we could present but after watching the Ghana edition he became convinced that we have outstanding talents here. We have players who are enormously talented and we are confident they will do us proud. A team from Angola participated last year and finished in the finals so we are confident that we will go a step further and win the tournament. We are going there to win the cup and we believe it will happen”.

Kweku Baah also called on corporate entities to come on board and assist Centa 14 as they seek to promote the talents in the country.

“Centa14 is a new and budding company doing big things. We are appealing to corporate Ghana to come to our aid and help us. 18 people are involved in this trip, 16 officials from Lizzy and 2 officials from Centa14 so we need help. As I already said, six players were selected from the Ghana event by Michel Salgado which gives credence to the fact there are a lot of talents on display which are going to be given exposure. So companies with the will and readiness to help us can contact us and help us”, he appealed
