Italian striker of Ghanaian heritage, Mario Balotelli has given the strongest indication yet that he holds affection for Ghana after imprinting on his new boots the flag of the West African country.

The OGC Nice striker was born in Italy to Ghanaian parents, but he declined to play for the Black Stars.

Despite several approaches from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the 27-year-old opted to play for the Italian national team, having also represented them at youth level.

However, Balotelli has given an indication that he still remembers his roots and his affection for the country of his parent’s birth.

The ex-Liverpool and AC Milan attacker has imprinted the Ghana flag on his latest Puma boots, as an acknowledgement of his ties to the West African country.

He also has the names of his parents, Thomas and Rose Barwuah, engraved on the boots.

His adopted family, Francesco and Silvia Balotelli, also have their names boldly etched on the boost, as are the names of his siblings Enock, Abigail, Angeli and his daughter Pia.
