Swansea plot Andre Ayew return

Swansea City are considering a move for former striker Andre Ayew from West Ham United, according to Sky Sports.

Ayew was sold to the Hammers for £20m in 2016 and replaced him with younger brother Jordan Ayew, who has scored four goals in his last seven matches in all competitions.

However, with Wilfried Bony and Tammy Abraham struggling in front of goal, bottom-of-the-table Swansea wants to reunite the Ayews so they share the burden together as the club fights to steer away from relegation.

The Ghana international scored 12 Premier League goals in 34 appearances in his single season at Swansea.

Although Ayew is not getting regular football at West Ham, he has started nine of their 23 league games this season, Swansea are four points off safety and favourites for relegation to the Championship.

Hope of an Ayew returning to the Welsh club is that they would be unable to match his West Ham wages, according to Sky Sports, and the 28-year-old may be reluctant to leave London and take a pay cut.

It is clear why Swansea want Ayew back, but they would be better off focusing on more attainable targets.
