Goldfields defeat Manganese Company

Damang (W/R) July 15, GNA - The Damang mines of Goldfields Ghana Limited (GGL) maintained its supremacy over Ghana Manganese Company (GMC) in their inter-sister friendly Lawn Tennis competition played at the Damang court over the weekend.

GGL won 3 - 1 in the men's singles when Fred Ali beat Kofi Abraham 7-4, Pius Ayeh beat Werner Slaba 7-3, while Nigel Sackey lost 2-7 to Issah Taylor.

In the men's doubles, Dr. Robina Sharpe and Nigel Sackey (GGL) beat Olaf Martens and Issah Taylor (GMC) 6 - 2, Fred Ali and Sam Anie (GGL) lost 0 - 6 to Kofi Abraham and Werner Slaba (GMC).

In the third men's doubles, Pius Ayeh and Emmanuel Atitifu (GGL) beat Werner Slaba and Kofi Enoch (GMC) 7-6.

In the men's doubles re-match, GGL beat GMC 7-5, and 14-12. The return encounter would be played at Nsuta Senior Staff Tennis court in two weeks time.
