Former Ghana Black Stars team captain, Stephen Appiah, has shared a photo celebrating his fellow former Black Stars player, Michael Essien, on his thirty fifth birthday today.

It'd be safe to say that former Ghana Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien's decision to move to Indonesia to play football has taken him out of the Ghanaian limelight.

This being said, he may be out of the Ghanaian public's radar, but his former Black Stars teammates obviously still have him in mind.

On account of his birthday being today, Stephan Appiah, a former Black Stars team captain, has wished him a happy birthday and said he hopes the former Chelsea player get's all his heart's desires.

At the time of his transfer to Chelsea Football Club in 2005, Michael Essien was the most expensive signing of all time with Chelsea paying 24,4 million Pounds for the midfielder.

This surpassed a transfer fee of 24 million Pounds paid for Ivorian striker, Didier Drogba, paid the season before. Unlike Michael, Stephan Appiah has transitioned from playing professional football to participating in football management. He is currently senior national teams Technical Director.
