Kotoko not interested in signing Atinga - Obed Acheampong

Communication Director of Asante Kotoko, Obed Acheampong has stated that his outfit is not interested in signing Vincent Atinga.

Atinga was one of the most consistent performers for Hearts of Oak in the just ended Ghana Premier League, helping the club to a 3rd place finish.

The towering guardsman declined to renew his contract after it expired at the end of the 2016/2017 Ghana Premier League season. However, he has since left the club after securing a player floating status at the Ghana Football Association (GFA) last week.

And reports emanated in the media that, the player has agreed a deal to join Asante Kotoko ahead of next season.

But Acheampong has downplayed the reports and claimed that he's not part of the list coach Steve Polack presented to them before leaving for England.

"There is a coach list and the players the coach need and we believe what the coach [Steve Pollack] needs and we do it for him, at the end of the day if he’s explaining issues, he will not find excuses,” he told Asempa FM

"The targets Steve Polack listed, Vincent Atinga is not part but i don’t know if he is free agent now, he [Steve Pollack] will tell Kotoko to go for him, as at now Vincent Atinga is not on the plans of Kotoko.”
