Dogboe vs Juarez fight set for January 6

The much anticipated WBO interim super bantamweight world title fight between Ghana’s Isaac Dogboe and Mexico’s Cesar Juarez has been slated to come off on January 6th at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

At last month’s WBO convention in Cuba, the sanctioning body mandated Isaac Dogboe and Cesar Juarez to fight for the interim world title due to an injury to the WBO super bantamweight champion Jesse Magdaleno.

Reigning champion Jessie Magdaleno was forced to drop out of his November fight with #1 contender Cesar Juarez, and his medical notification indicated he would not be available to fight until March or April.

This opened up a fight between Juarez and the next available contender, which according to the rankings was Filipino Marlon Tapales. But Tapales announced he was not available to fight as soon as needed to fight for a vacant interim title due to problems he was having with his trainer.

However, Team Dogboe and Rising Star Africa Promotions won the purse bid of $117,000 to stage the fight in Ghana.

And father and trainer of Isaac, Paul Dogboe in an brief interview with Ghanacrusader.com confirmed that the clash between his son and the Mexican will be held on January 6th.

“The fight will be held in Ghana and it will come off on January 6th at the Bukom Boxing Arena, that is the confirmed date,” he said.
