ITF level 1 Coaching Course ends

Ghana tennis received a shot in the arm when some of the country’s young and promising coaches underwent a two-week intensive International Tennis Federation (ITF) regional level 1course held in Accra. 21 coaches participated in the course which was made possible through funding from ITF and was facilitated by the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF).

The course was held at the Accra Sports Stadium Media Centre was under the instructions of three ITF resource persons Noah Bagerbaseh, Richard Ayi Dartey and Henry Quansah.

The participants were taken through:

* Teaching Methodology

* Technical Diagnosis and Corrections

*Tactics and Strategy in Singles and Doubles

*Fitness Training

*Biomechanics of tennis, Basic Spins of Tennis Strokes

*Training and Competition

*Communication and Role of the Coach.

Speaking to tennisgh.com coach Noah Bagerbasah said “It is quite obvious that this course will transform Ghana tennis because the level of enthusiasm by participating coaches who have come from all parts of the country to get equipped with the latest coaching of the game is very huge”

He added “i’m very optimistic our coaches will never remain the same as their philosophy of teaching has changed”.

President of Ghana Tennis Federation Isaac Aboagye Duah(Abe)thanked the coaches for their time and effort during the course.

secretary General for GTF, Philipina Frimpongmaa, advised the newly ITF-trained coaches to develop the interest in bringing young girls into tennis.

The closing ceremony took place after the written exams by participants and certificates of participation were presented to them.
