The Ghana Beach Soccer Association (GBSA) on Monday received an amount of 4,000 cedis cash from the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).

The amount forms part of the GOC's pledge to support various sports federations and associations including non-Olympic sports like beach soccer.

The cash amount is part of a $150,000 set aside by the GOC to be disbursed amongst the Olympic and non-Olympic sports federations.

In his acceptance speech following victory at the GOC Congress and elections, the President of the GOC Mr Ben Nunoo Mensah assured sports associations of his commitment to push for the wholesale development and promotion of sports programs.

The 4,000 cedis was received on behalf of the GBSA by its Organizing Secretary Nana Poku Amankwah and would immediately be used to settle debts owed by the association.

This includes the cash prize for the winners of the 2016/2017 beach soccer league Keta Sunset.

The President of the GBSA has outlined a series of activities which will kick start in the final quarter of 2017 through to 2018.

Top of that list, the GBSA congress, the 2018 expanded national beach soccer league and the Beach Soccer Unity Cup in October 2017.

Currently, the GBSA has only one sponsor; CAL Bank with a 44,000 cedis corporate social responsibility package.

The sponsorship agreement is due for review with the Association hopeful for an increment to support various programs estimated at over 480,000 cedis annually.
