Ga Presbytery YPG holds fun games

The Ga Presbytery’s Young People’s Guild (YPG) of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at the weekend organised a fun game at the Christ Faith School Park, Frafraha, Accra, to keep fit and maintain good health.

The games brought together all the districts of the Ga Presbytery in Greater Accra to socialize.
The districts were divided into five zones and they competed in games like ludu, athletics, volleyball, football, draft, Kenkey and Fish competition (eating competition), table tennis and oware.

At the end of the games, zone three emerged winners of the competition with 18 points, followed by zone five with 16 points. Zones one, two and four placed third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Reverend Emmanuel Adjetey Quaye, the Coordinator for the Ga Presbytery YPG said the event forms part of activities marking the Guild’s 45th anniversary and to also interact with the districts as well as evangelise.

He said the games were important because it brings togetherness, since “unity is strength,” and that, it behoves on all to exercise for a sound mind and body.
He said the anniversary theme “Let the Earth Hear” was chosen because Christ was the ultimate in all things we do since he protects, provides and guides us as Christians to stand the test of any temptation.

Rev Quaye urged the youth to use the games to preach peace and unity and put up a good behaviour for others to emulate.
Mr Gideon Mensah Mamah, Secretary to the Central Planning Committee and Head of Publicity Sub-Committee of the Anniversary said the exercise was also to help nurture the talents of the youth for a brighter career.

Mr Mamah said some of the anniversary programmes include a time with old Guilds, Adoral praise, quiz, dinner, awards night and a thanksgiving service.
He urged the youth to know the will of God and abide by it for directions in their lives and live a good legacy for future generations.
