Kevin Boateng discloses reasons for UD Las Palmas departure

Ghana forward Kevin Prince Boateng has disclosed that being away from his family was the main reason he rescinded his contract with Spanish side UD Las Palmas.

The 30-year-old joined the Gran Canaria-based outfit at the start of last season after short term contract with Italian giants AC Milan elapsed and instantly became a mainstay with his remarkable performance.

The former Tottenham Hotspurs attacker was linked with a return to Italy in the ongoing summer transfer window following his superb display for the Yellows, where he registered 10 goals in 28 appearances to help them finish 14th.

Boateng, however, signed a new three-year deal with the side and pledged to take them to higher heights in the upcoming campaign.

Reports went rife on Wednesday that Boateng and Las Palmas have severed ties, with another report claiming that he demanded to become the club's leading marksman in the forthcoming season, which the club vehemently declined.

But the 15-capped Ghana forward has revealed that his decision to part ways with the club was due to family reasons during a press conference.

“A very difficult day for me, it is not easy to understand and is my responsibility,” Boateng stated.

“It’s a decision as a father, as a husband, not as a player."

“I take this decision for my family which is the most important thing."

“I’m not well being away from my family, I told the President and he understood.”

Reports from German indicate that he will close a deal to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt before the transfer window shuts.
