Accra, April 26, GNA - Visiting Alexandria Polo Club of Egypt played a determined game to beat Accra Polo Club of Ghana by four goals to three and-a-half in an international polo match played at the Accra Polo Grounds on Saturday.
Ghana had an advantage of a half goal due to their weaked handicap to shoot into the lead in the First Chukka through Kenneth Quartey. Ghana after the early goal rather coiled into their shells and allowed the visitors to dominate play.
It therefore came as no surprise when Ishmael Obo Hamda, Mohammed Rasheed, Aly Kashef and Saeed Omar scored for the Egyptians before Subhi Accad and Ameer Captan scored one goal each for the Ghanaians. Mr Sulemana Iddrisu, Captain of the Accra Polo Club was assisted by the Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Ekraam Zafarani to present the trophy to the Egyptians.
Mr Zafarani expressed the hope that the competition would be an annual affair and further strengthen the already existing cordial relationship between the two countries.
Meanwhile Ghana is scheduled to play South Africa in a similar match in May 21 in Johannesburg. 26 April 04
