The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) is to organise an Open Championship at the Elwak Stadium July 24.

At least 1000 athletes from all 10 regions are expected to participate in the upcoming competition with the goal of reducing their times to qualify for the IAAF Under-18 and the World Championship respectively.

The Organizing Secretary of the GAA Samuel Ayeh stated that he “is very upbeat about the competition being successful as the locally based Athletes are poised and likewise preparing fervently ahead of the event.”

“There will be good timings because in the 100m Men, people are really yearning to set new record times to put them in pole position to qualify for the IAAF U-18 and World Championship later in the year,” Ayeh told Starr Sports.

He also confirmed that some Ghanaian foreign-based Athletes will also be present to witness the event and called on the general public to patronise the occasion.
