Players of the Black Stars team will receive $5,000 each as winning bonuses for the victory over Ethiopia, deputy Sports Minister Pius Hadzide has confirmed.

The Black Stars began their AFCON 2019 qualifiers on a promising note after dismantling Ethiopia 5-0 at the Babayara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Captain Asamoah Gyan, John Boye, Ebenezer Ofori and Raphael Dwamena were on target for the team.

The deputy Sports Minister during a press briefing on Monday at the Babayara Sports Stadium confirmed players will receive $5,000 each as winning bonuses.

The team’s bonuses was slashed by 50% prior to their participation at the Cup of Nations tournament in Gabon early this year.

Reports indicate the Ministry will maintain the bonuses of the Black Stars team at $5,000 in subsequent matches until further notice.

Kwesi Appiah hopes to qualify the team to the Cup of Nations having guided them to the semi-finals at the 2013 edition in South Africa.
