Cape Coast Tech Institute wins C/R schools athletics competition

Cape Coast, March 6, GNA - One record was broken in the Central Region Schools and Colleges (Zone One) athletic competition held at the Adisadel schools and colleges park.

Eric Johnson of Ghana National broke the 5,000 metres race with a new time of 15 minutes 24.3 seconds against the old record of 16 minutes 03.56 seconds.

Enoch Quansah of Adisadel College who took the second position was timed 15 minutes 28.2 seconds while William Obuobi of Christ the King Academy placed third with a time of 15 minutes 30.3 seconds. Joyce Larbi of Mfantsiman Girls was adjudged the best girl athlete for winning the 100 metres, 200 metres and led her school's quartet to win the 4 x100 metres relay.

Amin Mohammed Salifu of Cape Coast Technical Institute was adjudged the best

athlete in the boys division for winning the 400 metres, 800 metres and shot putt while his school emerged champions in the boys division with 149 points.

Adisadel College came second with 131 points, Ghana National College placed third with 90 points, Christ the King Academy fourth with 70 points while Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary School came fifth with 64 points.

Komenda Secondary Technical took the sixth position with 34 points, while Edinaman came seventh with 23 points.

In the girls division, Ghana National College came first with 123 points, Mfantsiman placed second with 100 points, Christ the King Academy was third with 95 points while Edinaman came fourth with 77 points.

Aggrey Memorial Zion Secondary School took the fifth position with 45 points followed by Aburaman with 39 and half points. Prizes and certificates were distributed to deserving athletes.
