Action Progressive win Madina Private Schools Games

Accra, Feb.21, GNA- Action Progressive Institute defeated Albert Academy 3-1 in the soccer finals to win the maiden Madina Private Schools Games held at Madina near Accra on Friday.

It was Albert Academy who opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Cletus Bien when he beat two defenders and shot into the net. Albert Academy after the goal, recoiled into their shells and allowed Action to dominate play.

It came as no surprise when Abukari Mohammed put Action on level terms in the 35th minute.

Mohammed shot Action into the lead in the 50th minute before Ben Owusu sealing the doom of Albert Academy in the 78th minute. On their way to the finals, Albert eliminated Madina Secondary School 1-0 while Action edged out Faith Community Baptist School of Complex 4-2 on penalties.

Faith Community won the Basketball event by beating Action 29 baskets to 12.

The Promising Star and the Top Scorer awards went to Henry Appoh and Solomon Ewu, both of Faith Community. Mr Felix Ntumy, Assistant Headmaster of Faith Community, who is also the Co-ordinator of the event called on students to be law-abiding, and desist from drug abuse and indiscriminate sex . He charged them to always take sports and their lessons seriously so that they could achieve academic excellence.
