River Park cycling club receives three medals

Three cyclists from River Park, a Sunyani-based cycling club won a cycling race organized by the Global Sports Project (GSP), a foundation set up to promote lesser sporting activities in the Brong-Ahafo region.



The trio, Anthony Boakye, Clement Kusi and Wisdom Akapo stole the show when they successfully sailing through the 42-kilometres race in one hour, 40 seconds, and 77 micro seconds-Sunyani-Nsoatre-Sunyani road.



They competed with 15 other cyclists selected from the Pro Cycling Club and GSP cycling club in the Sunyani Municipality and received medals and undisclosed sums of monies for their prize.



A statement signed by Mr Eward Anane, the Founder and Manager of the GSP and copied to this reporter said the race was part of preparations towards the 450 kilometer cycling tour to be organized by the project next year.



The Ghana Sports Authority will collaborate with the GSP to organize the monthly cycling race, expected to commence in January and end in May 2017, and has the hope to catch the interest of about 500,000 spectators in 24 districts in Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo regions.



According to the statement, the GSP and her partners would also work hard to help unearth and nurture the talents of young men and women in basketball, marathon and volley.
