Beach Soccer Prez rues poor officiating

President of Beach Soccer Ghana, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, President of Beach Soccer Ghana, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah,

Ghana Beach Soccer Association president, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, has lamented the poor officiating that has hindered their chances of progressing to the next stage of the 2016 Africa Beach Soccer Championship being staged in Lagos.

After losing the opening game to Ivory Coast, the Black Sharks were confident of getting back to winning ways, but terrible officiating halted their
World Cup dreams as they narrowly lost to their North African opponents, Egypt, by 5-4.

According to Ankrah, he was gutted by the performance of the referees as they deserved to gain maximum points from the encounter.

He said: “I will not say anything that will lead to a sanction by CAF. To speak the truth about this game, it connotes how poor officiating was.

“Nonetheless, we’ll dwell on the positive aspect of our participation, which entails the background of these players and the level of exposure they have gained which will help build on their experience.

“The focus will now be on how to build the popularity of beach soccer, considering the potential the sports possess.”

The Black Sharks will face their West African rivals, Nigeria, in the last match of the championship.
