Workshop on games and Constitution held.

Mr. Napoleon Agboada, Director of Public Education of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on Ghanaians to be self-confident in everything they do.

He said traditional values such as respect for the elderly, love for hard work, honesty, discipline, tolerance and hospitality should be exhibited by all on daily basis.

Mr. Agboada was opening of a workshop and contest on Constitutional Game for second cycle schools in the Western Region at Takoradi at the weekend.

Among the participating schools were Saint Mary's, Fijai, Jabeso-bia, Tarkwa, Archbishop Porter Girls, Ghana Secondary Technical, Asankrangwa, Mpohor secondary schools and the Nkroful Agricultural secondary school.

He said though indiscipline is attributed to several factors, emphasis should rather be placed on the upholding of traditional values, to reverse the current trend.

Mr. Kwaku Baa Owusu, Western Regional Director of the NCCE said it is the duty of every Ghanaian, to live both by the spirit and letter of the 1992 constitution and ensure that all understands its provisions.

He said the formation of civic education clubs in schools was meant to enhance the confidence of students, provide them with skills and knowledge on the constitution and make them good analysts. Mr. Joseph B. Aidoo, western regional minister advised the students, to read the constitution and understand some basic information about the constitution and equip themselves to be able to defend the constitution at any time.

Mr. Aidoo reminded them that dialogue is the best option and challenged all students to use it frequently.

Tarkwa secondary school emerged first in the constitutional game while the Archbishop Port Girls placed second.

The third and fourth positions went to the Fijai Secondary School and the Jabeso-bia secondary school.

They each received copies of the 1992 constitution, the constitutional game, T' Shirts and other educational materials.

Similar workshops had earlier been held for members of the security agencies at Sekondi.
