Zumdick To Quit?

... He Gets Job With Top German Club
There are fears that Ralf Zumdick is to step down as Ghana's national team coach in January 2004 when his contract runs out with.

Zumdick has been chosen as the assistant coach at the German bundesliga side, Hamburg. Klaus Toppmoller, head coach at the club, made the announcement today. Toppmoller's previous assistant manager, Peter Hermann, was removed from his position just recently.

It is widely expected that the former Bochum legend Ralf "Katze" Zumdick will be "sworn in" as Toppm?llers' right hand man in January 2004.

Toppm?ller knows Zumdick from his time at Bochum. The goalkeeper played 282 Bundesliga games for the Ruhr Pott club before becoming Toppi's assistant. After Toppm?ller left Bochum, Zumdick stayed on to become their head coach from (27.12.99 - 13.2.01). At the moment, Zumdick is the goalkeeping coach of the Ghana national squad. Toppm?ller has apparently received the go-ahead from his old mate Zumdick, and now things are down to the HSV sport director Beiersdorfer to draw up an acceptable contract.

Zumdick was a three-month contract to manage Ghana's national team in early September.

The former Asante Kotoko coach took over from Burkhard Ziese, who was sacked after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2004 African Nations Cup.

The 43-year-old coach, has had a previous experience in the Bundesliga when he coached Bochum between 1999 and 2001, so he will be tried and tested for the German league.

He led Kotoko to the final of last year's African Cup Winners Cup.
