Ghana international Jonathan Mensah has revealed the Black Stars players need their senior colleague Sulley Ali Muntari in the team.

The FC Anzhi Makhachkala defender earned a call-up to the 2010 World Cup, held in South Africa after helping Ghana in 2009 to win Gold as the first African team to win the ultimate during the under 20 youth championship in Egypt.

Mensah has moved on to earn 38 appearances with the Black Stars as well as a second World Cup appearance in Brazil.

The 25-year old who has played with Sulley Muntari claims the team needs the services of the veteran due to his huge positive influence on their play.

“He always drives us on during play. We the playing body need him though I don’t know about the GFA. He is a kind man and always plays a positive role on the field with the team” he told Happy Fm.

Jonathan Mensah signed for Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala from French side Evian this season and made eight appearances.
