J.E. Sarpong’s bribery chants reveal a lot - Referees Chief Joe Debrah insists

Acting Chairman of the Referees Association of Ghana Joe Debrah says the recent bribery chants by sacked Dwarfs coach J.E. Sarpong is a revelation that management members of clubs use the names of referees to extort their executives.

According to him, the comments from the seasoned coach indicates that some club officials take monies from the top hierarchy to pay referees but do not pay.

Speaking to GHANAsoccernet.com on the matter, Joe Debrah said those irresponsible club officials have wrongly dragged the image of the refereeing profession into the mud.

“J.E. Sarpong’s comments mean that there have been some elements in the football fraternity who use the names of referees to extort their own executives.

“They portray positions of paying referees to manipulate matches for them but they do not even send the monies.

“He has exposed team managers, operations officers and other club officials who portray they love the club more than themselves," he told GHANAsoccernet.com

Coach Srapong accused the Team Manager of his former club Ebusua Dwarfs for pocketing monies meant for referees resulting in their poor show in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.
