AshGold v Asokwa Prez Cup fixture cancelled

The 2016 President Cup fixture between Ashanti Gold and Asokwa Deportivo has been cancelled, Sportscrusader.com understands.

It is unclear why the fixture has been cancelled, but Sportscrusader.com sources say the purpose of the game is to attract spectators to the venue and organisers are unsure the fixture will provide them with that.

There are proposals from some officials of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) to replace the two with Dunkwa United and Starke FC or Okyeman Planners and a yet to be chosen team to fill the gap.

There are also fears Asante Kotoko might pull out due to the proximity ( June 29) of the club’s league fixture against Wa All Stars and the day of the match.

The President Cup will be played on July 1 (a Republic Day in Ghana) in honour of the sitting president of the country.
