A member of the Ghana Football Association medical team Dr Prince Pambo wants water breaks during Premier League matches with the country experiencing a heat wave.

He argues that the rising temperatures in the country pose a risk to players who are in action at 3pm.

"We are all worried for our players but thankfully there is a way out which is we having a cooling break or what they call water break," Pambo told Joy Sports.

"The effects of playing under such high temperatures are quite enormous-apart from the fact that players lose lot more water by way of dehydration, the produce a lot more heat which goes to affect the muscles and predisposes them to injuries- there is the issue of fatigue and the final is heatstroke where people can even collapse and possibly die.

"So yes in the 2014 World Cup FIFA introduced the cooling break and that is the way to go in this hot weather."
