The Minister of Youth and Sports (MOYS) Honorable Nii Lantey Vanderpuye has reiterated the need for young and upcoming footballers and all athletes to take education very serious, as it will serve a good foundation for them in future.

Most young and upcoming athletes in sporting disciplines in recent times, have not cultivated the habit of attaching seriousness to their education, as they see it as impediment to playing career, which is fallacy.

In a brief interview with sportscrusader.com the Honorable Minister said “it is an obligation for every parent to see to it that, their wards who have chosen sports as a profession take education very serious, as it a very good yardstick for the development of sports in the country and for themselves as well”.

The Honorable Minister also entreated young and upcoming footballers to take a cue from former Black Stars players in the 1960’s to 1990’s who took education very serious despite playing for the national team which was a burden , but nonetheless they still had time for their education.
