Ex-Ghana striker Augustines Arhinful fears the Accra stadium will collapse due to its deplorable state.

The national stadia has become a 'death trap' with mounting calls for its closure.

Corrosion and brakes have spammed part of the 40,000 capacity stadium amid growing concerns over the shocking state of the edifice.

The playing surface of the national stadia has been labeled 'cassava farm' due to its poor state.

And the ex-Ghana international fears a disaster could struck if steps are not taken to renovate the venue.

“It still baffles my mind why nothing is being done. It is very worrying,” he told Peace FM.

“It has been in this state for quite too long and I think is high time the Authorities did something about it.

“Now the League is going to begin and people will go to the stadium to watch matches. Who knows what can happen.

“Remember this stadium is not only for football but is used for different purposes as well.

“We are just praying nothing happs though but is high time they paid attention to the deplorable nature of the Stadium.

“Maybe they want another disaster to occure before they will do something."
