Matthew Amoah signs for Dutch amateur side VV Baronie

Veteran Ghanaian striker Matthew Amoah has joined Dutch amateur side VV Baronie, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 35-year-old signed a six-month contract with the club on Sunday to help them rise to the top tiers of the leagues in Holland, Ghana's leading football new outfit can confirm.

Amoah's contract with the ambitious side will end in June which could pave the way for him for bigger offers.

The club in the lower leagues of Holland say the addition of the Ghana striker is a major boost for their ambitions.

"Matthew seems very fit and can be of great value to the team," technical director of Boronie Toine van Aard said.

Amoah moved to Holland at the age of 15 from Ghana to the Dutch top-flight side Vitesse Arnhem.

He played in the Dutch top-flight for eight seasons for the Arnhem-based side where he was a key player and emerged as a real goal getter.

Amoah then relocated to NAC Breda where he quickly grew to become the fans' favourite.

He spent five seasons in Breda in the top-flight Eredivisie where scored many goals.

The attacker played for Ghana between 2002 and 2010 and earned 43 Black Stars.
