Goalball Championship: Volta are champions

Volta region are the new champions of this year’s National Goalball competition, beating other nine regions in a fierce competition held at the Sekondi College in Takoradi early this month.

Competition from Gt.Accra, Ashanti, Eastern, Western, Central, Northern, Upper East, Upper West and Brong-Ahafo saw the Voltarians come as tops for their discipline and composure.

They became the overall champions of this year’s Goalball competition after finishing first and third in the male and female categories respectively.

The team which was led by highly motivational coach Saviour Agbabga showed class by winning all matches in the men’s category.

This feat is likely to see the Voltarians dominate the national team’s call up ahead of their Africa qualifier in Algeria next month.
