The Ghana FA’s Congress rejected an open resignation of Ethics Committee chairman Nana Adjei Ampofo on Monday.

The learned lawyer is unhappy over the heavy criticism of his committee, especially in its ruling over the eligibility of his Vice Chairman DCOP Kofi Boakye.

A decision made by the Ethics Committee in the bribery case involving Techiman City FC and Wa African United was rendered void by the Appeals Committee over the legality of the constitution of the Ethics Committee meeting which was chaired by Kofi Boakye.

The decision of the Ethics Committee was however reversed by the Appeals Committee raising even more controversy.

The heap of criticisms and character assassinations to the person of the chairman of the Ethics Committee appear to have gotten the better of him as Nana Adjei Ampofo attempted to resign from his post before Congress.

“I have started by saying I was given a duty and that duty is done. “I thank you for the opportunity to serve on the Ethics Committee and soon my work will come to an end.”

But Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi intervened to notify Nana Adjei Ampofo that his appointment was not made by Congress but the Executive Committee hence rendering his attempted oral resignation void.
