Orlando Pirates have declined to punish Ghanaian international Edwin Gyimah and Senegalese Issa Sarr despite their late return from national duty.

The two players arrived back in South Africa late last two weeks from the FIFA international break, and missed their side’s 2-1 Telkom Knockout win over University of Pretoria.

Whilst Gyimah was with the Ghana Black Stars in Washington DC for the friendly with Canada, Sarr was also with the Terenga Lions and though both players were expected back in Camp on October 15 ahead of their club game on October 16 they failed to turn up.

A close source to the Bucaneers hinted Soccer Laduma that that the club has decided not to punish the duo as as they were not at fault for the late arrival.

“The management feels that there is no need for any punishment or disciplinary action for the two. Though they arrived later than expected, it wasn’t their fault,” the source said.

“They made sure they came back as soon as they could according to the flight bookings they had.

“Unfortunately they couldn’t be part of that team that won against Tuks, but they did everything right on their side and the team management took that into consideration and are satisfied with the players’ commitment to the team.”

Gyimah, 24, joined Pirates this summer from Supersports after spending last season on loan at Mpumalanga Black Aces.
