CK Akunnor not bothered

Coach C.K Akunnor insists he is unconcerned by the boardroom wranglings which could rob Dreams FC off a chance to play in the Premier League.

Dreams FC finished the season as winners of Zone 3 in the national second tier league but their qualification has been challenged over the use of an alleged unqualified player.

Tema Youth, who finished second in Zone 3, have launched a protest against Dreams FC’s prospective qualification for allegedly fielding Daniel Gozar who they claim wasn’t properly registered.

If found guilty, Dreams FC who are based in Kweiman could be docked points which will see them lose the opportunity to play in the Ghanaian top flight for the first time in their young club history.

But coach C.K Akunnor remains adamant he is not bothered by this risk as he believes he successfully did his part to lead the team to Premier League qualification.

“As far as I am concerned, the team has qualified to the Premier League,” the former Black Stars captain told the General Telegraph in an interview.

“Whatever that is going on is not in my area, my area is to coach the team and I believe I have coached a team that has qualified to the Premier League so the others can deal with any other issue.

“Let me make it clear, I went to Dreams to achieve something and if I look on the league table, Dreams have qualified.

“Whatever issues that have popped in is not a bother to me. My delight is that I have taken a team through tutelage to qualify to the Premier League with the support if management.”

Dreams FC was only formed in 2009 by former Hearts of Oak official Kurt Okraku.

They gained promotion to play in the Ghana Premier League just within a season of qualifying from the third tier League.
