Ghana Premier League champions, Obuasi Ashgold, are closing in on Aduana Stars centre back Emmanuel Akuoko ahead of the coming season.

Footballmadeinghana.com can reveal that Akuoko has emerged as the number one transfer target of coach Bahir Hayford who is bent on winning a double in the domestic front next season and also making a meaningful impact in the CAF Champions League.

Akuoko, 23, has been one of the most consistent central defenders in the Ghanaian front over the past five seasons and has been the main reason why Aduana Stars do not concede more goals.

Both Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Ashgold were interested in signing the tough defender before last season but he chose to remain at the Fire Club.

The Miners will make an official approach for the player by next week and they are prepared to add the likes of Toufiq Alolo as part of the deal.

The talented defender is also said to be on the radar of Egyptian Club Al Masry.
