'We should have scored more in Ethiopia'

Black Princess’ coach Masud Dramani has said that the team had the opportunity to get a better scoreline than the 2-2 draw it recorded in Addis Ababa on Saturday in the first leg of the final round of the 2016 FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup.

Ghana traveled to play Ethiopia on Saturday and it needed a goal from Kate Addo in the 80th minute to leave the score 2-2 ahead of the second leg.

But Dramani told Citi Sports that Ghana could have found more goals to make the second leg easier.

“If the events of the match were anything to go by, then we would say that we should have come out with a heavy scoreline though we faced the challenge of the altitude.

In football, you cannot control elements like altitude. One can only manage it. The altitude meant that if we tried pushing ourselves to cope, it would have resulted in something else. After the match, 6 of the girls had to be revived by the medical team.

But aside all that, the football displayed by the two teams was at the highest level.”

The second leg will be played in Kumasi in two weeks and a win for Ghana will send them to the U-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.
