Asante Kotoko are in negotiations with Medeama SC over the possible signing of the Tarkwa based side's central defender, Evans Quao.

The Porcupine Warriors officially wrote to the Yellow and Mauves to express their interest in the player after which Medeama replied in agreement to commence discussions over the likely transfer of the player to the former league champions.

Both clubs are now in talks about the transfer and onward transfer fees among other contractual details ahead of the player's imminent move before Kotoko are permitted by Medeama to discuss personal terms with the player.

Quao joined Medeama last season after stints with Indian top flight side Mumbai FC when he was signed by the then coach of the Tarkwa side, Prince Owusu before the trainer left the club prior to the start of the Ghana Premier League to work with former Black Stars coach, Akwasi Appiah at Sudanese side Al Khartoum.

The former Heart of Lions defender still proved his quality when Swedish trainer, Tom Strand replaced Owusu and went on to deliver a consistent and impressive performance as Medeama enjoyed a glorious season to win the FA Cup over Kotoko in the final and escaped relegation on the last day fixtures.

The bulky central defender has two more years left on his three-year-contract with Medeama and despite the club's forthcoming participation in next season's CAF Confederations Cup, the Management is ready to exchange the player for money domestically when continental competition and exposure is beckoning.

Until a deal is reached by both clubs, Quao will report for pre season with Medeama on October 31.
