The head coach of home-based national team, Maxwell Konadu, has cautioned the two-goal CHAN qualifying hero in the championship of African Nations qualifier, Joel Fameyeh, to beware of media hype as it can lead him astray.

Konadu who is also the assistant coach of the main Black Stars, watched the Deportivo Asokwa striker score twice in a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast at the weekend. The goals were quality, especially the winning goal, which he danced his way around four defenders to slot in the winner.

Konadu said: “I don’t want him to be carried away by media hype and all that, though he is a young lad coming up, we have to guide him carefully for him to achieve what he has to in football. If we start to shower all kinds of praises on him, it may get into his head and may go astray, so we need to take our time”.

The coach has seen many great talents start in fine style and then veered off track later. Konadu believes Fameyeh has the the talent to do well but only if he is managed right.

“We don’t want him to be swollen headed right now so I keep talking to him and I think that he will abide by the advice that we give him and i think he is a discipline guy so he will definitely achieve his dream. He has started well and we just want him to continue doing that", Konadu said.
