Thomas Awimbono (25-4-1, 21 KOs) makes his US debut on November 7 when he comes up against Mike Gavronski at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington, Allsports.com.gh can report.

The Ghanaian who is expected to leave Ghana by the end of this month to get at leas a week's acclimatisation before fight night, faces the 29-year-old Gavronski (20-1-1, 13 KOs) on an undercard of a Brian Halquist Promotions bill.

Awimbono lost on all his previous three fights outside Ghana, in Wales, Liverpool and South Africa but says it will be a different story this time when he faces Gavronski in the American's won hometown, the expected hostile crowd notwithstanding.

"I am going all out and I've really prepared for this fight. If I win it will give me the chance to challenge for the world title after one or two more fights next year so I'm not going to waste this opportunity," Awimbono has exclusively told Allsports.com.gh.

Awimbono who is trained by Lawrence Carl Lokko, the experienced Ghanaian boxing coach who also trains highly rated Richard Commey, further asked for the continued support and prayers of his countrymen as he seeks to lift high the Ghana flag in the US come the night of November 7.

"I'm appealing to my fans and all Ghanaians to give me their full support, they should pray for me because I won't let them down," the 34-year-old former Commonwealth title challenger pledged.

"I am going to win to make everybody proud," Awimbono added.
