Andre Ayew going through intensive knee treatment

Andre Ayew and Jonjo Shelvey are both on course for Swansea City’s meeting with Stoke City even though both players are carrying knee problems.

Ayew has withdrawn from the Ghana squad for their friendly against Canada next week after taking a bang to the knee during Swansea’s draw with Tottenham last weekend.

And Shelvey has missed a couple of training sessions with England this week because of an ongoing issue with his knee.

However, Swansea have no major concerns over either player and both are expected to be fit when Garry Monk’s men return to action against the Potters in 10 days’.

Even though Ayew has remained in Wales — and Modou Barrow has dropped out of the Gambia squad — Swansea are currently without 10 first-team players because of international commitments.

Shelvey hopes to add to his three England caps in their games against Estonia and Lithuania while Ashley Williams and Neil Taylor hope to secure qualification for Euro 2016 with Wales.

Gylfi Sigurdsson’s Iceland plays Latvia and Turkey while Lukasz Fabianski is with Poland.

Eder is part of the Portugal squad and Kristoffer Nordfeldt is with Sweden.

Swansea winger Jefferson Montero is in the Ecuador squad for World Cup qualifiers against Argentina and Bolivia while Ki Sung-Yueng’s South Korea play Kuwait and Jamaica.

Matt Grimes is with the England Under-20s for the Mercedes Elite Cup in Germany, and played 90 minutes as they beat Holland 3-1.

Swansea has a number of other young players involved with international youth sides.

Ryan Hedges, Liam Shephard and Josh Sheehan are with the Wales Under-21s while Jay Fulton and Stephen Kingsley are in the Scotland Under-21 squad.
