Jordan Ayew has revealed in a special interview with his English Premier League club, Aston Villa's website, that he and elder brother, Andre do not converse too much about their on-field exploits.

But the younger Ayew does not shy away from the fact that they have the perfect role model when it comes to football matters.

Their father, legendary Ghanaian forward Abedi Pele who also won three consecutive African footballer of the year titles, is a huge inspiration.

"He is a father like every father - always behind his kids. He is doing a father's work.

"He inspires everyone in Africa - not just me and Andre. He is behind us 100%.

"I speak to him often. I don't know when he will come over to see me play - hopefully when we play Swansea!"

Jordan was only two-years-old when his dad helped Marseille overcome a star-studded AC Milan team to win the UEFA Champions' League in 1993, up to this day, France's only victory in the revered competition.

The significance of those achievements, though, are not lost on the young striker.

"I've only seen highlights of that game," Jordan admitted.

"I was two when it happened. As I got older I started to appreciate what a big thing it was for my dad.

"To win the Champions League is a dream for every footballer. You are lucky if it happens once in your life."
