Attuquayefio Leads Benin To Big Win

Former "Africa Coach of the Year" award winner Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio has put Benin back in contention for a place at next year Africa Cup Nations after his team crushed Sudan 3-0 last Sunday in the Nations Cup qualifier.

Speaking in an interview with GHANAWEB this afternoon, the former Accra Hearts of Oak Technical Director pointed out that it was a good victory and happy one as "he killed 2 birds with one stone". He said the result means a good start in his coaching of the Benin national team and also a revenge for him personally on the Sudanese for the defeat they inflicted on the Black Stars when he was the head coach.

He said he is not jubilating this feat because he has 2 crucial matches against Tanzania in Dar es Salaam and the last match against Zambia in Cotonou which will ensure qualification for the Nations Cup.

"If these 2 matches are won there will be cause for jubilation" he pointed out.

Meanwhile information available to GHANAWEB indicates that just before Attuquayefio left for Benin 2 top officials of Accra Hearts of Oak were in touch with him for a possible return to the Phobian camp. The report added that they had met Attuquayefio twice in his residence. He declined to comment on that move but added that he is still in love with Hearts Of Oak.
