Ghana Debut For England-Based Duo

NIGERIA - Three English-based footballers made their international debuts at the weekend in the four-nations tournament played in Abuja.

Wimbledon's Patrick Agyemang (pictured) scored after three minutes in his debut for Ghana against Nigeria in Abuja on Friday, although Nigeria came back to win the match 3-1.

Agyemang, 22, was born in Walthamstow. He was joined on a debut by Crystal Palace's Will Antwi, a 20-year-old defender born in London.

Antwi played three league games for Palace in the English first division last season.

Ghana also called up Fulham forward Elvis Hammond and former Arsenal youth team player Joe Osei-Kuffour, but they did not arrive for the hastily-arranged tournament.

Nigeria gave a debut to defender George Abbey, 24, from English third division club Macclesfield Town.

Abbey, born in Port Harcourt, moved to England in 1999.
