Under 17 Tournament At Swag Park

An under 17 tournament for eight football clubs in the Ayawaso District is underway at the Kotobabi SWAG park in Accra. It is being organized and sponsored by the 3 Fingers Academy, based at Maamobi.

The participating teams are 3 Fingers Academy, Shooting Stars, Great Academicals, and FIFA Eleven. The rest are Free Town FC, Soccer Analyses, Liberty Youth Clubs and Down Blow.

The winning team takes home a trophy and a cash prize. In addition to that, the winners are eligible to participate in the fourth coming Oguaa Afahye tournament at Cape Coast in the Central Region. The first and second runner-ups would both receive unspecified amounts of money as their prizes.

Last year Zakhour Babies, a team owned by the former Chief Executive of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mr. Harry Zakhour beat 3 Fingers 5-4 to lift the Oguaa Afahye trophy.

Felix Kweku-Baba, the brain behind the tournament and Chief Executive of 3 Fingers Academy, told ADM that apart from getting a representative at the Oguaa Afahye tournament, this tournament would also "prompt and enable the young talented youth to expose their talents to the public"

He called on club officials to come and patronize these young footballers exhibiting their talent, so that they can develop a further relationship with them and help the boys to polish their skills for the benefit of the country.

He entreated football enthusiasts to troop into the SWAG park to grace the tournament see the teams performing wonderfully.

Kewku-Baba commenting on the officiating commended the referees for their wonderful and fair officiating so far.

In the opening match last Saturday, the host team, 3 Fingers Academy drew with Down Blow. Salim's two goals powered his side FIFA Eleven to humble their opponent Free Town FC, which after many attempts failed to register a goal.

Last Sunday morning, Great Academicals whacked the boys of Soccer Analyses three goals to nil . Paa Kwesi's hat trick made his side winners of the day. In the afternoon, Shooting Stars suffered a one goal from the boot of Edem as Liberty Youth Club carried the day.

Next Saturday, Liberty Youth will play against Free Town FC. Soccer Analyses plays Down Blow in the second match.

On Sunday, Shooting Stars would play FIFA Eleven. The toughest of all comes on Sunday afternoon when the two arch rivals 3 Fingers Academy meets Great Academicals.
