Peace At last For B. A. United

After months of bickering and intense heckling, peace is almost a certainty at troubled Brong Ahafo United. A series of motions set in place by the Ghana Football Association and the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister have culminated in the cessation of fire by the two factions claiming administrative mandates to run the club.

Yesterday at the Eusbett Hotel in Sunyani, representatives of the feuding factions and the troubleshooting institutions rose from a marathon meeting convinced that peace has finally returned to the camp of the Apostles of Power Soccer.

Immediate past Chairman of the club, Mr. Kingsley Osei Bonsu, alias Zico, yesterday submitted the Card As of old players of the team then in his custody to the new management in fulfilment of an earlier undertaken to do so.

That means the club can now register the players for the league pursuits. Zico has also agreed to cause his lawyers to withdraw all legal actions instituted against the club, particularly a restraining order slapped on the club to enable B. A. United operate in unity.

The former chairman has submitted an audited account to the club's Board for examination and if approved, would see the reimbursement of the former helmsman monies owed him that run in excess of 400 million.

If the Board finds reason to re-audit the accounts after examination, it would be done and reconciled.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, GFA members Kwaku Ampem Darko and Sylvester Twintoh Mensah, Zico and other members of his administration as well as members of the George Arthur administration and members of the board. (George Arthur was said to have travelled and therefore absent).

Sources at the meeting say scores of the club's supporters who waited in wings the during the closed door meeting left the venue happy that their beloved club can now look ahead in unity and with hope.

The parties have subscribed to an undertaking to abide by the counsel of the meeting.

Earlier in the week, FIFA's Head of Players' Status Legal Services, Gianpaolo Monteneri in a fax response to both the GFA and B/A United and copied to CAF cleared George Arthur as a qualified club administrator.

George's eligibility to hold office as a club administrator had been challenged as a result of a ban imposed on his playing career when he prematurely exited his contract with Egyptian club side Zamalek.

FIFA observed that the suspension was limited to his activity as a player and did not affect his possible appointment as a club's representative
