Franco-Ghanaian defender Jerry Vandam will terminate his contract with Belgian Pro League side Waasland-Beveren as he eyes more playing time.

Vandam was signed by Beveren from KV Mechelen during the January transfer window but has failed to shine, making only 11 appearances in all competitions for the Freethiel Stadion outfit.

According to Voetbal Krant, the 26-year-old defender is not happy spending time on the bench and he is ready to cancel his contract with the club and move to an environment he will get more time to feature.

Talks between Vandam and the Pro League side are said to be at an advanced stage and it is likely he will move out along with Cameroonian forward Aboubakar Oumarou, who has also been told by the club to find new employers.

The player was once considered among the finest young defenders in France during his time with LOSC Lille, but could not hold down a permanent place in the senior team, making only 12 appearances in four years after being promoted in 2007.

He enjoyed a fine 2011/2012 season on loan at Stade Malherbe Caen, where he played 31 games scoring one goal as they won the Ligue 2 championship and gained promotion to the top flight.

Despite stating in 2010 that he wants to play for Ghana rather than France, who were after him for their U21 team, Vandam is yet to get any call up from the West African nation.

Clubs such as Lierse and Lokeren have both shown interest in him previously and he could join one of them in the summer transfer window.

Vandam, who was born in Lille, is the nephew of former Ghanaian international Alex Nyarko who played for Lens and Everton.
