Assaulted Kyeremanteng must report to police

The chairman of the Ghana FA security committee, Nicholas Owusu, is urging Kumasi-based referee Patrick Kyeremanteng to report Henry Amenyo to the police for assaulting him during an MTN FA Cup game against Aduana Stars over the weekend.

Referee Kyeremanteng was punched in the face by the Istanbul player, who had been shown a red card for an assault on an Aduana Stars player at the Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa.

Though the incident will be reported to the Ghana FA in a match report, Owusu believes the security personnel at the Dormaa Park should have arrested Amenyo.

“Yes I know it will be filed in the match commissioner’s report but I will also urge Referee Kyeremanteng to report it to the police as an assault because it should be treated as so,” Owusu told Starr Sports.
