Supporter pays Eleven Wise’ Ghc 500 fare to Kumasi

Sekondi Eleven Wise has been saved by the bell as their national supporters’ chairman, David Atta Mensah has donated an amount of five hundred Ghana cedis (500Ghc) to cover the team’s transportation fare to Kumasi for a Division One League game against KFC Samosa, sportscrusader.com can confirm.

The former premier league campaigners were expected to travel to Kumasi to play the bottom-placed club on Saturday morning, but they could not embark on the journey due to lack of funds.

Reports in the local media suggested that the head coach of the club, Johnson Smith had asked each player to contribute an amount of twenty Ghana cedis (20Ghc) to enable them travel but the players declined.

The team then failed to embark on the journey given KFC Samosa assurance of securing all the three points and three goals but the 500Ghc given to the team by the Supporters’ Chairman has ignited the team’s hopes as they are on their way to Kumasi.

Speaking to sportscrusader.com, David Atta Mensah confirmed the news of the money but denied the allegations that players were asked to contribute for transportation.

“Yes, I gave them 500Ghc. I was called around 4pm on Saturday that the team could not travel because there is no money, so I had to give them the money but no player was asked to contribute anything.”
